1. Introduction
Tether ("we", "our", or "us") is a web application that helps you maintain meaningful relationships by reminding you to stay in touch with the people who matter. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
By using Tether, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the app.
2. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account or join the waitlist, we collect:
Email address — used to identify your account and send account-related communications
Display name — the name shown on your profile within the app
First name — if provided on the early access form
Relationship Data
Information you add about the people in your circle:
Contact names, relationship types, and cadence preferences
Interaction logs (type, date, and optional notes)
Birthdays and personal notes you choose to add
This data is stored solely to power your reminders and relationship health view. It is never analyzed for advertising purposes.
Usage Data
We collect basic usage data to understand how the app is being used and to enforce free-tier limits. This data is associated with your account.
3. How We Use Your Information
To provide and operate the Tether service
To send daily digest emails and reminders you have opted into
To generate AI-powered conversation starters based on your contact notes
To communicate with you about your account when necessary
To improve the product based on aggregate, anonymised usage patterns
4. Third-Party Services
Supabase We use Supabase for authentication and database storage. Your account data and relationship data are stored on Supabase infrastructure. Supabase is SOC 2 compliant.
Anthropic (Claude API) When you request AI conversation starters, relevant contact notes are sent to the Anthropic Claude API. Per Anthropic's usage policy, data submitted via the API is not used to train their models.
Stripe Payment processing is handled by Stripe. Tether never stores your credit card information directly. Stripe's privacy policy governs payment data.
Resend We use Resend to deliver daily digest emails and transactional notifications. Your email address is shared with Resend solely for this purpose.
5. No Sale of Data
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party for marketing or commercial purposes. Ever.
6. Data Storage and Retention
Your account data is retained for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, your personal data and relationship records will be permanently deleted from our database within 30 days.
To request account deletion, email us at hello@staytether.app with the subject line "Delete My Account".
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
Correction — update your information directly in the app settings
Deletion — request permanent deletion of your account and all associated data
Portability — request an export of your relationship data
Tether is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), secure authentication via Supabase Auth, and row-level security on our database so users can only access their own data. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you by email before they take effect.

2. Using Tether
Tether is a personal relationship reminder tool intended for keeping in touch with real people you know.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Tether.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and password.
You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you add about your contacts.
Do not use Tether for spam, harassment, or any activity that would harm others.
Do not attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or otherwise misuse the platform.
3. Your Data
You own your data. Tether does not claim any rights to your contact information, relationship notes, or interaction logs.
You can export or delete your data at any time by contacting us.
We will never sell your data or use it to serve you advertisements.
4. Free and Paid Tiers
Tether offers a free tier with limited features and a paid subscription with full access. The free tier allows up to 15 contacts with basic features. The paid tier unlocks unlimited contacts, AI conversation starters, daily digest emails, birthday reminders, and monthly relationship reports.
5. Payments and Cancellation
Paid subscriptions are billed monthly or annually via Stripe.
You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings.
Upon cancellation you retain access until the end of your current billing period.
We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods.
Prices may change with 30 days advance notice by email.
6. Service Availability
Tether is provided as-is. We will do our best to keep the service running reliably, but we cannot guarantee 100% uptime. We are not liable for any loss of data, missed reminders, or damages arising from use of the service.
7. Intellectual Property
All content, design, and code within Tether is owned by Tether and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of the product without written permission.
8. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. If your account is terminated for a violation, you will not be entitled to a refund.
9. Changes to These Terms
If we make significant changes to these terms, we will notify you by email before they take effect. Continued use of Tether after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
